Doesn't help me very much especially as all the unboxing videos i see there is a tab you pull for the battery connections to start?? but mine didn't have anything. so how am i supposed to insert my own batteries?

Hey, not sure if you found this out already, but if you're still without batteries you can get them on Amazon for only $5 or so in total. You'll need 6 LR41 batteries to work the keyring! I also had the same problems as you, that's how I know all this😅
